blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!

Though not my first book, this is my first full length poetry collection to be published by someone other than myself. I've written three full length books, four books of poetry, and two spoken word cds, and my work has appeared in magazines and journals worldwide, including Utne Reader, Yoga Journal, Alternative Medicine Digest, Japan International Journal, Nippon View, and Tokyo Time Out. My original solo performance pieces and ensemble plays have appeared on streets and stages in New York, Tokyo, San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Los Angeles, Marin, Sonoma, and the Mendocino coast. I've worked with the Oakland East Bay Symphony, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, the Bay Area Video Coalition, The Marsh Theater, The Arena Theater, Gualala Arts, California Poets In The Schools, Laughing Squid, KZYX Radio, KTDE Radio, SF Liberation Radio, Pirate Cat Radio, Point Arena Pirate Radio, and Radio Amsterdam.

In addition to my writing, I teach poetry, film, art and performance to K-12 youth. A California Poets In the Schools (CPITS) poet teacher for eight years, I'm also   the Mendocino County Area Coordinator for CPITS, which means in addition to poetry duties, I coordinate nine Mendocino County poet teachers in 30 schools. I also organize the yearly Mendocino County Youth Poetry Slams and the Youth Create Multimedia Festival which occurs in late May at the Arena Theater.

My "poetry movies" are not DVDs of me reading my poetry. They are animated, collaged, mixed video art visuals guided by the spoken word. I think poem movies are my favorite medium right now; however, I don't do them as much as I could, as 80 to 100 hours for one poem is a little obsessive and I love so many other things.   I'm looking forward to hearing people's responses to these short journeys.

I also co-chair the monthly P&W Third Thursday Poetry Series in Point Arena, sit on the California Poets in The Schools executive board and am a member of the Oddfellow Faternal Society.
